ReportBuilder & FQDN

Anyone run into this?

ReportBuilder fails to load when using a FQDN (fully qualified domain name) URL.
ie: http://servername.xyz.company.com/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx

ReportBuilder loads with no issue when using the shortname URL.
ie: http://servername/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx

details:

ERROR SUMMARY
Below is a summary of the errors, details of these errors are listed later in the log.
* Activation of http://servername.xyz.company.com/ReportServer/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder.application resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected:
+ Downloading http://servername.xyz.company.com/ReportServer/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder.application did not succeed.
+ The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden.

COMPONENT STORE TRANSACTION FAILURE SUMMARY
No transaction error was detected.

WARNINGS
There were no warnings during this operation.

Nevermind Figured it out -

Modify RSWebApplication.config for Hard IP.

<ReportServerUrl>http://<Site IP Address>/ReportServer</ReportServerURL>

<ReportServerVirtualDirectory></ReportServerVirtualDirectory>

Works - just recycle the application pools in IIS. By the way if you are configuring the manager for a non-default IP address be carefull. For some reason the report manager does not like a <ReportServerVirtualDirectory> value if <ReportServerURL> is supplied.

Report subscription only works 80% of the time.

Hi,

I have setup report subcription with stored credential using a valid domain account and "Use as Window Credentials..." checked. Everything tested fine and works properly when the report is viewed in a web application. The problem is this report renders fine in the browser 80% of the time and occasionally it gives me Logon failure error:

An error has occurred during report processing (rsProcessingAborted)

Cannot impersonate user for data source 'Pinnacle'. (rsErrorImpersonatingUser)

Logon failed. (rsLoginFailed)

Logon failed: unknown user name or bad password. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007052E)

Since the report is working 80% of the time and the user domain account hasn't changed. I am confused why I am getting bad user account error. Please help!

Thanks.

-SouBee

This sounds like a network connectivity issue - if the security authority is not available when we try to login the data source credential user, you'll see behavior like this. At the time the subscription fails, are you able to connect to the data source as the same credentialed user?

report server no longer sends emails

We had to change the administrator password recently. So I took the
opportunity and created a sql user (yes.. it is domain admin) and moved the
sql and reporting services to run under this user instead of administrator.
Since this time, my report server doesn't send out the reports via email. I
am not sure where to look to even determine what exactly the problem is.
Thanks.
StaceyI think i found the problem.. just no solution. When I look at the history
of the job that executed the report. It says that it Executed as user: NT
AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE. instead of executing as the user that I want.
Any idea how to change this?

Welcome to use MSDN Managed Newsgroup!
What is the current startup account of Reporting Services? From the error
message, it seems that the startup account of Reporting Services is still
Network Services.
To change the startup account of RS, you can open the Services Control
Panel, find the ReportServer windows services and change its logon account.
You mentioned that you have created a new windows account for RS. After
that, have you configured the RS? Please let me know your configuration
steps.
If anything is unclear, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks & Regards,
Justin Shen

||||I found the solution. There was a new user created in Active Directory that
report services and sql were running under. The report would not email.
And the jobs did not execute as that user. When I added that user explicitly
to SQL Logins, then everything started working fine. I did not think that
was necessary - but I guess it is.
