I have been working my way through the Report Server tutorials. All went
well until I got to Lesson 7
(ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v9/MS.SQLSVR.v9.en/sqltut9/html/d313b097-a04c-4e26-b2d9-9a0b421aa61d.htm#seeAlsoSection).
There it described how to publish a report. When I do that step, I get "The
request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request."
I am using "http://localhost/reportserver" for the TargetServerURL, and this
URL does exist (I can open it in IE). There I see the two subdirectories,
Tutorial and Data Sources, but neither has anything in them.
Can you point me in the right direction to get this to work?
Thanks.Hello acsla,
Based on my research, you need to check whether you have use host header in
your IIS for your web site.
If does,we had to modify two config files:
In RSWebApplication.config we added the url to ReportServer using the host
header
name in the ReportServerUrl element.
In rsreportserver.config, we modified the UrlRoot element to use the host
header
name rather than the machine name in the url to ReportServer.
Hope this information will be helpful!
Sincerely,
Wei Lu

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/support/default.aspx.

I don't see anywhere in IIS where use host header is set. I certainly
haven't changed any default setting on that. Where exactly in IIS would this
be?
Thanks.

Then, could you check the two configuration files I mentioned in the
previous post and use the correct value for the element?
You need to use the http://servername/reportserver in those elements.
