Hello,
I am reviewing SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services for my company.
I have purchased the book "Hitchhikers Guide to SQL Server 2000 Reporting
Services". to help me and the tool seems amazing. Unfortunately, I cannot
setup my machine to install it.
Using my Universal Subcription, I downloaded "SQL Server 2000 Reporting
Services Service Pack 2 (English)"
Whenever I try to install, I get the following error:
"Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services
Setup -- This edition of the Report Server Database
is not supported on the edition of SQL Server 2000 you have chosen. Please
choose another SQL Server that matches the requirements. "
I have a WinXP Pro Machine
Personal Edition SQL Server 2k SP4

Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Personal Edition on Windows
NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 2)
I have read the requirements and I think I have the required versions to
install and run Reporting Services. Anyone help me?
Can SQL Svr 2k Reporting Services be deployed to a Win XP pro workstation?
Thanks,

I think the issue is with SQLServer, not the OS.

Personal Edition.
The next thing I tried was Workgroup Edition on WinXP. Even the Workgroup
Edition did not work. I am downloading Developer Edition right now.
My target production machine is to use RS on a Windows XP Pro workstation.
My understanding is that for production version, there are only 3 SQL Server
Options: Entreprise, Standard and Workgroup. For Win XP, the only version
we can deploy is WorkGroup, the other 2 versions require a "server" machine.
Can SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services be deployed on a Win XP Pro with SQL
Server Workgroup SP4? I was unsuccessful at getting that to install but
perhaps I am not installing something properly...any help?
Thanks,
Dan
