Ok, so here's the catch. It works one 1 machine, a co-workers machine. I can login as any user and it'll work fine. But when I try it on any other machine, including my laptop, my desktop, my server, etc. I get that error. I've tried adjusting the IE Security settings, firewall settings, even tried different browsers. Here's some of the stuff installed on my machines:

Laptop
-Windows XP Pro
-ASP.NET Validation Tool
-Visual Basic Express w/ SQL Server Express
-.NET 1.1/2.0 Framework

Desktop
-Windows XP Home
-Visual Studio 2005 Professional
-.NET 1.1/2.0 Framework

Server
-Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
-SQL Server 2005
-.NET 1.1/2.0 Framework

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Even our lead developer has no clue, it won't work on his machine either!

I found a solution here.

Report Viewer Parameter Dropdown width

Does anyone know how to control the width of the parameter dropdownlist? If you select "Multi-value" for the parameter (non-sp1 version) the parameter list is in a dropdownlist that is manageable in size. If you do not use the multi-value parameter, it looks like the width of the dropdownlist is determined by the width of the longest text of the returned parameters.

Is there any way to control the width of the dropdown?

Thanks

Rob

pretty sure there is no way to do this|||

I spent some time "fighting" with this problem. The only way this might be achieved is to play with the customizable style sheets for the Report Manager.

I solved my problem by making the text in the multi-value dropdown smaller.

Hi

Where can I find this style sheet?
I've had this problem since I started using
SSRS 4 months ago.

Report Versioning

Is there a way to add a version number to an rdl file? If so can someone give me pointers on how to do it.

Thanks

-JW

You can add custom properties to RDL under the CustomProperties element. We met a similar requirement by adding a Version property. However, custom properties are not surfaced to the UI (neither Report Manager nor SSMS) so you have to parse the RDL to get to them. Implementing a standard Version property could be a welcome addition to a future release.

|||

You can also add hidden (internal) "Version" parameter with default value, and use it within your report.

Report Subscription sends wrong version

I have a report that's scheduled to run once a month on a timed subscription (using a shared schedule). The Report Delivery Options are set to include the report as a PDF embedded within the email notification. The report has also been set to record a snapshot each time it is run.

The first month, the report was embedded as planned.

The second month, the wrong report was sent. The PDF that was generated in the prior month was resent, not a new instance of a PDF based on the current data. The emailed link to the report on the server worked fine, and the history shows that the snapshot was recorded at the appropriate time?

Wa happen? Why would it embed the prior/old instance of the report?Hi there, I'm trying to recreate this problem so I can try and figure it out but I need a little bit more info.

When you say you have set it to record a snapshot every time the report is run do you mean that it records a snapshot on the same schedule as the subscription?|||Specifically, on the History Properties of the report, I have the following options selected:

Allow history to be created manually.
Store all report execution snapshots in history.
Use the following schedule to add snapshots to report history
Shared Schedule: MonthEndProcessing-At 2:00 AM on day(s) 1 of every month starting 6/3/2005.
Keep an unlimited number of snapshots in report history.

On the Execution Properties, I have the following options selected:

Render this report from an execution snapshot
Use the following schedule to create execution snapshots:
Shared Schedule: MonthEndProcessing-At 2:00 AM on day(s) 1 of every month starting 6/3/2005.
Report Execution Timeout: Use default setting

On the Subscription Processing options:
Delivered by: Report Server E-Mail
Include Report Render Format: Acrobat (PDF) file
Run the subscription:
On a shared schedule: MonthEndProcessing-At 2:00 AM on day(s) 1 of every month|||I've not had time to try and test this theory but I believe it may be somethig to do with the time it takes to process the report.

I think what may be happening is that when the schedule kicks in and starts to generate the report the subscription doesn't wait for the report to be completed because of the time it takes to generate it so it sends the last generated report.

It was probably fine for the first report because by default when you create a snapshot schedule it automatically creates a snapshot when you apply the settings but when it was run the next time it sent the first report while the second was being generated.

If this is the problem you should be able to fix it by creating a schedule that runs before the subscriptions to generate the report so it is ready when the subscription schedule kicks in.|||

This is the behavior I am experiencing with large reports, and it is getting me burned!

The "Render the report with most recent data" switch does nothing in this case, as in our environment all reports run with most recent data and snapshots are not useful.

So for all my monthly and weelky reports I have to schedule a snapshot (with a limit history of 1) a fixed time (10minutes?, 1 hour?) on the report history page before building the subscription separately to send them?

If Render most recent is on, the sub should wait for the report to finish, before sending.

THIS IS A BUG. No matter how it's sliced.

Report subscription and Failure sending mail:

I am using Reporting Services 2005. SP1 is applied (version 9.0.2047). I configured one of the reports with subscription and sending
report via email. I used Report Manager to setup the report subscriptions,
but I get the following status message:

The log file contains the following:

Any ideas?

I am also getting the error on SQL Server 2005 with SP1 and am currently trying to get the email working.

The only bit of extra information I can give is that when I do

net helpmsg 110

I get: The system cannot open the device of file specified.

As yet, I have no idea what device or file report server is trying to open.

I'll update this message if I figure this out.

Report Source

Hi
We have different version of the same report. For example, Report 1,
Report 1a, Report 1b in the visual studio. We publish only one of them.
But, we go and change report name in browser to 1. After a while, we do not
remember which one did we publish. Is it possible to see which report is
published?
I know that you can get RDL code from browser and compare it against the
visual studio RDL. But, I have lot of such reports.typo in last post - should be "Description" property :-)

deploy it, then you will see that in the properties of the report in Report

Report services compatibility ??

Hi All ...
If I create a report with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
Designers
Version 9.00.1399.00 ... ( Visual Studio 2005) ... Will I be able to
deploy it to SQL Server Report Services 2000 ?
*******
Error 8 An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to
service this request. Please review the following specific parse
error details and modify your source file appropriately.
*******
I did verify my Report Server name in the "Microsoft CRM Deployment
Manager ... made some modification ...try to deploy again then I'm
getting another error message
******
A connection could not be made to the report server
http:// .........../ReportServer
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your
connection information and that the report server is a compatible
version. (Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer)
******
With this one it seems to be a version problem ... Just need an
approval from an expert
TanksNope.
You can deploy RS 2000 to RS 2005 but not RS 2005 to RS 2000.

A regular RS 2000 environment is not hard to upgrade but there might be
specific things for your environment.

Report server service pack

How can I determine what version of service pack for reporting services is
installed on our servers?
I would deeply appreciate step by step instructions.
TIA...Go to http://yourserver/Reportserver
SP1 is Version 8.00.878.00
SP2 is Version 8.00.1038.00

What would version 8.00.743.00 refer to?

means you have no service packs installed. Given all the fixes I strongly
recommend applying both service packs.

fixes from SP1?
When I read through the SP2 docs it wasn't clear to me, but it seemed like
if I ran SP2 on an RTM or SP1 installation that I'd end up with equivalent
installations.
