Report Viewer Web Part Title wont save

In shared view when i save a report viewer web part title & then go & select
another report viewer web part title on the same page the title then defaults
back to report viewer [1] & report viewer [2].
the same happens when i clock off the page & back to it.

Report Viewer Control + shared hosting

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the report view control and shared hosting. What I need to do is generate a .pdf report dynamically in my ASP.NET web-app using the aforementioned control. What I'm wondering is if this will be do-able on most shared hosts. For example, I know that most (if not all) shared hosts will not allow you to use Crystal Reports because it needs to be installed onto the server rather than on your slice of the server. Is there any installation required to use the report viewer? Conversely, if someone knows of a cheap ($10 - $20/mo) host that allows crystal report use that would be extremely helpful, since I've already done it in crystal reports :(.

Hello,

You need to have a licensed SQL Server, for using SSRS. You do not require to install any thing on the server.

Thanks for your reply. However, I am still a bit confused, as I'm not sure which row in the tables I need. Is it report server under business intelligence? If so, it appears I can get that w/ SQL Express, which is what I'm currently using. Any more feedback you can give would be appreciated.

Yes for personal development you can use SQL Express. But if you want for commercial use then you have to go for any other option then Express.

Report Subscription sends wrong version

I have a report that's scheduled to run once a month on a timed subscription (using a shared schedule). The Report Delivery Options are set to include the report as a PDF embedded within the email notification. The report has also been set to record a snapshot each time it is run.

The first month, the report was embedded as planned.

The second month, the wrong report was sent. The PDF that was generated in the prior month was resent, not a new instance of a PDF based on the current data. The emailed link to the report on the server worked fine, and the history shows that the snapshot was recorded at the appropriate time?

Report Execution Timeout: Use default setting

On the Subscription Processing options:

I think what may be happening is that when the schedule kicks in and starts to generate the report the subscription doesn't wait for the report to be completed because of the time it takes to generate it so it sends the last generated report.

It was probably fine for the first report because by default when you create a snapshot schedule it automatically creates a snapshot when you apply the settings but when it was run the next time it sent the first report while the second was being generated.

If this is the problem you should be able to fix it by creating a schedule that runs before the subscriptions to generate the report so it is ready when the subscription schedule kicks in.|||

This is the behavior I am experiencing with large reports, and it is getting me burned!

The "Render the report with most recent data" switch does nothing in this case, as in our environment all reports run with most recent data and snapshots are not useful.

So for all my monthly and weelky reports I have to schedule a snapshot (with a limit history of 1) a fixed time (10minutes?, 1 hour?) on the report history page before building the subscription separately to send them?

If Render most recent is on, the sub should wait for the report to finish, before sending.

THIS IS A BUG. No matter how it's sliced.

Report rendered via webservice not executing from cache

I set a report to 'Cache a temporary copy of the report. Expire copy of
the report on a Shared schedule'
I generate the report using the webservice function Render. All the
settings seem to be set properly, the cache options setting (using
GetCacheOptions) returns True, and the ExpirationDateTime is correct.
So how come when the report is run, it brings up a fresh rendition of
the report (according to the Globals!ExecutionTime variable)?
Could it be something I am not setting correctly when I render the
report? The only thing I am sending are the parameters (which by the
way I am forced to get directly from the database, since RS does not
retrieve second or third level parameters)
