Report window and 2-up labels
the labels actually print. Is there a method/property or something that can
make the preview look similar to the actual printed output when printing a
multi-column report? Thanks.

I'm not sure if this will help; however, you could try placing the
controls that are being used into a single rectangle control or adjust
your column spacing (by right-clicking Column 2 and select
Properties). Hope this helps.

David,
I don't think there's a way to get Preview to look like the printed
output straight-a-way as what you're seeing in preview is the HTML
rendering of the xml code. However, once you're in Preview you can
click on the Print Layout button (right next to the Print button) to
give you a rendering of the page as it will print. Once you change to
this view, it'll stay that way as you flip back and forth from Preview
to Layout.

Report Viewer - Export to PDF - Problem in strikethrough font
Hi,
I used a textbox with strikethrough font in my report. In preview, the report has that font and also in Print. But exporting to PDF has no strikethrough font. (Export to excel has this font). Can anybody help to resolve this.
Thanks in advance.
The PDF renderer does not currently support the strikethrough style on fonts.

The report runs in the development environment as a preview. When deployed,
the report runs about 1.5 hours and then returns an error. The report is
set not to timeout. What could be causing this behavior?|||The page displayed is: The page cannot be displayed

report starts processing immediately
my report starts processing immediately when I switch to preview window in
VS (or click on it in the Web Browser).
I know it's because it has some string parameters (with list of available
values and default value defined) & 2 datetime parameters that allow null
values. When I remove default values or uncheck "allow null value" the
report waits untill I specify params. I suppose it is not convenient to work
with. Happily, my report calculates fast.
Are you going to fix this in the future releases?fix what?
This isn't desired behavior?

any other period that the user can specify (the fisrt two options is for

because I have assigned defaults to the parameters does not mean I want it
to execute without any intervention on the users part. They should need to
click, hit enter. I.e. they should have to do the same thing they do after
selecting a parameter for the report to run. So, I did as you did. I leave
at least one report without a default so it waits for user interaction
before running.

In my case - after the user has selected all the parameters, he still
has to click 'view report' in the browser. I wish I could set it that
any parameter he changes, as long they are valid... execute the query.
My queries are small.. and go to OLAP... so are very quick.
People like to see action without much effort!!
And of course - sometimes it is better to click the view report -
specially if the query is large...

Report server viewer renders incorrectly but exporting yields correct output!
I have a rather complicated report with lots and lots of textbox and line controls. When I preview the report on the Report Server the layout is all kinds of skewed and all kinds of stuff is out of place. But when I export the report to PDF or TIFF, the output reverts to it's proper form. Why is it doing this? Is there anything that I can do to not make it so ugly when previewing?
Does it seem like there are line feeds where there really shouldn't be? Try changing the width of your report.|||
The line controls have been an issue for me. In my layout I have a couple of lines that extend past where they would logically go then when I previewed in VS the line would be well short of where I wanted, and then when I exported out to PDF it rendered fine. Now I am loading the reports onto a Report Server and getting an even crazier preview output.

Report Server problem
Is reprot server required for the reprot.whats other alternative to show the report on web browser?
Hi,
By default, the reportserver's URL is http://localhost/reportserver.
When installing reporting services on a named instance this will be http://localhost/reportserver$instancename.
First check in your IIS what the exact name of the reportserver is. Also check that IIS is started. Try to open the reportservice.asmx file.
If this works, check the reportserver path in the Project Properties. Make sure it is the same as in your IIS.

|||Hi,
Wich Service Pack does your SQL Server has? In able to run Reporting Services on SQL Server 2000, you must at least have SP3 installed.
Also, the reporting server must be installed separately. Although, it is licensed with your existing SQL Server.

Hi,
The account that you specified in the setup must have the rights to run a service (Logon as a service permission). This can be set in the windows policy. Maybe that this is not set. I know that for 2005, the setup gives the necessary permissions but for 2000 it can be that you need to do this manually.

Report runs in preview in VS.net 2003, but not on Report server
windows 2003). This report runs from my VS.net developers edition preview
page, but once I publish it to my Sql reporting services report server, it
will not run - there is a long delay, then I recieve repeated prompts for
username and password, and then failure.
I am logged in as the same user as on my vs.net.
I have a number of other reports that run correctly on both my development
system and on the report server. I just can not figure out what I have
different in this report or datasource that is causing this issue.
If anyone can help me figure out what permissions I have messed up. I would
appreciate it.
Fred ZilzWhen you run Report as preview in VS.NET, the Report Server is not involved.
So, the preview running fine means you do not have problem to get data (if
the database reeqires logging in).
Therefore, your problem could be that your account cannot log into report
server (do not confuse it with database server, although both may use the
same SQL Server). You could use Report Manager to go to the folder where the
report is deployed, click Properties->Security to see who is allowsed to
browse reports in that folder.

connection string (and therefore not store in the RDL connection string on

Report Rendering (II)
Hi,
I have been using the following code, (thanks to Shyam), to display address fields. This works great when using preview in BIDS, but the address shows on one continious line when the report is redered in Reporting Services.
=First(Fields!Name.Value) & IIf(First(Fields!Address1.Value) <> "", Chr(10) & Chr(13) & First(Fields!Address1.Value), "") &
IIf(First(Fields!Address2.Value) <> "", Chr(10) & Chr(13) & First(Fields!Address2.Value), "") &
IIf(First(Fields!Address3.Value) <> "", Chr(10) & Chr(13) & First(Fields!Address3.Value), "") &
IIf(First(Fields!Town.Value) <> "", Chr(10) & Chr(13) & First(Fields!Town.Value), "") &
IIf(First(Fields!County.Value) <> "", Chr(10) & Chr(13) & First(Fields!County.Value), "") &
IIf(First(Fields!Post_Code.Value) <> "", Chr(10) & Chr(13) & First(Fields!Post_Code.Value),
Any one any ideas?
Thanks
Did you try vbCRLF instead of chr(10) & 13?
