Report Specific export formats?

is there a way to show report specific export formats?

A use case scenario is when a report would not make any sense in say CSV, then we do not want that csv to show up in the export options?

Thanks.

Unfortunately you cannot configure per-report export format options.

Report Specific Data Source in sql Server reporting Services

Hi everyone.

I have problem in sql server reporting services.

I have created a sql server report in viisual studio 2003 using the report specific data source, not shared data source. I also set the credentials when i define the data source for the report.

When i test it in report manager, it runs nice and displays the required results. Now when i called this report in web application using the following URL:

<script>varpreview=window.open('http://phx-ps01/ReportServer?%2fISTEPS%2ftest&rs%3aClearSession=true&rc:Parameters=False');preview.focus();</script>

It gives a report service error which is as follows:

"One or more datasource credentials required to run the report have not been specified. (rsCredentialsNotSpecified) "

This error shows that the credentials for the connection string is not set, but i set it when i define the data source for the report.

If any one can help, then please help as i am need of it urgently.

Thanks in advance.

Rizwan

Hi,

Try to create a shared connection and use that in your reports. while creating a connection, save credentials information too, otherwise it will ask on next new requests.

Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER)

This error is being displayed in the eventlog every minute. Any ideas on what it is referring too? I reviewed some posts but most point to specific problems of report server not running, or receiving this error during a run. We are receiving no errors at all. However this is jamming up the event viewer to make troubleshooting other issues very diffucult.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER)
Event Category: Management
Event ID: 107
Date: 3/23/2007
Time: 8:20:16 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SPECTRUM_DB2B
Description:
Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

It is stating that RS can not connect to it's database. A possible reason is the way you are connecting to the RS database. In the config tool if on the Database tab it says "Service Account" then it is using whatever account the windows service is running as. It is possible someone changed this account via another tool and this account does not have rights to read the DB.

The easiest way to fix this is to go to the Database tab in the configuration tool and select "Script...". Then select "Grant Rights Script", enter the username and hit OK. After this, run the script on the SQL server. The windows service user should now be able to connect to the SQL server, making the error go away.

report server - windows credentials userspecific?

is there any way to store the windows credentials user specific (for each user his one credentials) ?

- for an SSAS Report where the cube uses dimension security and the user get only some elementes of a specific dimension.
- we want to have a subscription in pdf format for a weekly e-mail to the user....

currently i have one report with an report specific connection.
And all the users have created a linked report to this report in their homefolder.
Is there any way to store the report specific connection on the linked report in the users homefolder ? - at the moment there is no datasource should - it seams this is only available in the mail report (link reference)

does anyone know an othere comfortable solution?

HANNES

Regarding reports from SSAS data sources:

In RS 2005, you can use expression-based connection strings. Through the expression you can access for instance the current user id exposed through the ReportObjectModel (which btw will be the surrogate user in case of an unattended subscription execution):
Connection string: ="data source=..." & "EffectiveUserName=" & User!UserId

More information about expression-based connection strings: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156450.aspx (go to the "Data Source Expressions" section).
